Internationally celebrated calligrapher Achyut Palav brings a unique exhibition of hand painted umbrellas to Navi Mumbai. Known for his experiments & unconventional style, Palav has always strived to bring out the extraordinary out of calligraphy, which he considers to be ‘The Art of the Common Man’. The rains have their beauty & have been inspiring artists in one form or the other. Its splendor has led to creations on canvas & an unconventional medium … Umbrellas.
His latest venture, ‘Achyut Palav School of Calligraphy’ in Navi Mumbai has been well received among calligraphy aspirants. The exhibition of calligraphic umbrellas is an extension to his demos & displays around Mumbai, which he is brings to the delight of rain lovers the month of August. Hand painted umbrellas by various artists are up for viewing & sale from the 8th & 9th August 2009 between 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.When asked about the uniqueness of this particular exhibit he says, ““The magic of rains is never ending. In any form, a drizzle or a rainstorm it will leave a mark on our minds & hearts. It has been the inspiration for artists & poets. It freshens the mind & earth. How can one alienate himself by the kaleidoscope of colors around him that the rains have exploded? Artists like me have made a humble attempt to capture the essence of this season of showers on canvases & umbrellas.”It’s an exhibition with a difference & a must see for all art & rain lovers.
